Whether you’re an adult who missed out on braces as a kid or you have a child who needs their teeth straightened, Invisalign® allows you to get a great smile without cumbersome and unsightly metal braces. We also offer Invisalign for cases of orthodontic relapse, which frequently occurs if a retainer isn’t worn after initial orthodontic treatment.
At Madison Dental Studio, Dr. Pappa and her amazing team, give patients in central Mississippi something to really smile about with their Invisalign system. To learn more, call or email us to set up an appointment.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an orthodontic appliance system used to inconspicuously treat crooked and crowded teeth in adults and teens. This modern approach to braces features a system of clear aligner trays that you wear at all times, except during meals and when you brush or floss.
The trays are custom fitted to your teeth and you receive a sequence of trays, each slightly different than the one before. The aligners provide a slight resistance to your teeth, easing them into alignment over time.
Many patients opt for the Invisalign system because it’s discreet, there’s no need to avoid foods that could damage braces, and they are a very comfortable orthodontic option. Invisalign also fits well into busy adult schedules, as there’s less need for frequent visits for wire tightening. Instead, you simply change aligner trays every couple of weeks, and your progress is periodically evaluated in the office.
Am I a candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign can fix many of the same problems that traditional braces can correct, including:
- Crowded teeth
- Underbite
- Overbite
- Crossbite
- Gapped teeth
- Open bite
- Crooked teeth
The bottom line is that if you have a smile that you’re unhappy with, or otherwise preventing you from achieving optimal oral health, Invisalign may be the perfect solution. The best way to know for sure is to see Dr. Diana Pappa at Madison Dental Studio for a complete consultation to determine whether you may benefit from clear orthodontic aligners.
What should I expect during my Invisalign treatment?
You’ll wear your aligners nearly all of the time, with the exception of about two hours per day, when you’re eating meals. Invisalign treatments are different for everyone, but most patients can achieve their ideal smiles quickly and effectively. During that time, you can expect to make occasional visits to Skyview Dentistry to monitor your progress, usually every 4-8 weeks, depending on how your treatment is progressing.
Following your Invisalign treatment, you’ll need to wear retainers to help protect your new smile. It’s also important to continue visiting Dr. Pappa for routine check-ups and twice-yearly cleanings.
