What are Digital Dental Impressions?
Digital impressions are an efficient, safe and comfortable way to take precise impressions of your mouth and teeth. If you have had a traditional dental impression of your mouth (also called a mold) taken in the past, you know that they can be unpleasant.
Dr. Diana Pappa and her team at Madison Dental agree that traditional dental putty material, takes a long time to set, can be messy, and it’s not our idea of a fun time in the dental chair, either.
We agree that a quicker, more comfortable, and modernized option is better for your experience with us and the best option for your oral health. Madison Dental Studio is pleased to utilize digital impression technology using Dentsply-Sirona’s intraoral scanner, called Primescan, to help eliminate the need for traditional impressions for many dental needs.
While this technology can make the experience much more comfortable for any patient, it is also especially good for patients who have a more sensitive gag reflex. Our digital impression system is more efficient and less invasive than traditional dental impressions, and it provides our team and our dental lab with the most accurate information, which is best for your dental health.
Digital scanners also save time and allow for the most accurate information to be acquired quickly, by taking thousands of extremely accurate individual photographs, captured in just seconds.
Primescan Digital Impressions
Primescan utilizes a very small intraoral camera wand with a scanner lens, and quickly takes thousands of photographs of your teeth from every angle. Our technology can then compose the most accurate replica via a computerized image This image is then utilized to help fabricate a myriad of dental devices, such as custom occlusal guards (for TMJ or nocturnal bruxism, also known as nighttime teeth grinding), clear aligners for orthodontic treatment, or crowns, bridges, implant crowns, and veneers.
Dr. Diana Pappa and her team are proud to offer the most advanced technology available by utilizing our scanner for the vast majority of our dental impressions at Madison Dental Studio.
